General Information
Come and explore the Thunderbird Lodge Historic Site. The Lodge is open for guided tours Tuesday through Thursday from June through mid-September.
Guided tours take visitors on an hour and 15 minute walk throughout the Whittell estate. Guests are provided a peek back to the “Old Tahoe” lifestyle, while learning about George Whittell, his legend and the stories that come to life as you discover the Lighthouse Room, Old Lodge, the maids' quarters and original kitchen, as well as a trip through the 600' underground tunnel leading to the infamous Card House and Boat House. In the Boat House you may find the fabulous yacht, Thunderbird, built for George Whittell in 1939. The yacht is a one-of-a-kind masterpiece built in a bygone era, a 55' long, John Hacker design with a mahogany hull and dual aircraft engines. The tour then follows the Dragon's Tail path into the Card House offering breathtaking views of Lake Tahoe and nearby mountain ranges, while you discover the magic that is Thunderbird Lodge.
Tours are by reservation only and are limited to 20 persons at a time. Group tours can be arranged. Self-guided tours are not available at the Thunderbird Lodge. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended because of uneven pathways.

Tours - By Land
Thunderbird Lodge offers four tours daily, Tuesday through Friday, through September. In addition, Saturday tours are available in July and August. Parking and shuttle pickup for Thunderbird Lodge tours is at the Incline Village/Crystal Bay Visitor's Center, 969 Tahoe Boulevard, Incline Village, NV, on the north shore (Driving Directions).
On-line booking is available through activitytickets.com. To make reservations by phone, call the Incline Village/Crystal Bay Visitor's Center at 1-800-GO-TAHOE (Office Hours - Mon thru Fri, 8am-5pm; Sat, Sun & Holidays, 10am-4pm). Ticket prices include the shuttle ride and tour of the historic site and are $39.00 per adult and $19.00 for children from 6 to 12. Children under 6 are not permitted.
Tours - By Water

Tours embark from Tahoe Keys Marina in South Lake Tahoe on the classic wooden boat Tahoe Tuesday through Saturday at 10 am, early June through September. Ticket prices include a narrated cruise along the lake's beautiful east shore, tour of the Thunderbird Lodge Historic Site and lunch on the site grounds. Adults $110, children 6-12 $55.
